Lazy Study Sunday

Sunday was my favorite kind of day! Molly didn't have to go to work. Instead she took Zorro and me to her parents' house.

Zorro and I went for a nice walk around Fairport with Molly and her mother. It was a perfect day for walking: crisp, bright and sunny. We saw dogs, birds and cars. After our walk, we went back to Molly's parents' house for lunch.

In the afternoon Molly settled down on the couch to study for her statistics class. I may have no interest in the distribution of the mean in finite populations, but I do love to nap and cuddle. I make a great study companion because study time is perfect for napping and cuddling.

Happy New Year everyone! I don't know about you, but my wish for this shiny new year is a forever home full of walks and snuggly naps. If you'd like a snuggly beagle to start your year with, why not go to http://www.bluemoonmeadows.org and see about adopting me!

Christmas and New Chew Toys!

My foster mom just left for the pet store to get Zorro and me some new chew toys. Zorro and I used to have a whole bunch, but they seem to have gotten lost or something. We're not really sure what has happened to them, but it's always nice to have several chew toys laying around as I love chewing on them and don't particularly like sharing them with Zorro. This way when I decide I want the toy that he has, he can go get himself another one.

On a less happy note, Christmas is soon approaching and I don't yet have a home of my own. It is what I would like for Christmas more than anything in the world! Molly says I've been with her for quite a while now and she's getting pretty attached to me. She doesn't understand why people are not lining up in droves to adopt me!

If any readers of this blog are intersted in an optimistic little beagle, head on over to http://www.bluemoonmeadows.org to fill out an application, or contact my foster mom for more info. If you know of anyone who might be interested in me, please don't hesitate to send them here to find out more about me.

Belly Ache

I was a bad boy today! Molly went shopping and left me out of the crate. I got into her Dad's Christmas present - 2 kilograms of baking chocolate! I didn't eat it all, but I tried my best. As a result, I'm a very sick puppy.

I took a trip to the emergency vet, and they treated me and decided it would be best to keep me overnight. I can't wait to get home. It's no fun being sick, and it's no fun being stuck at a hospital!

Molly is very worried about me, and has promised to make sure things that are bad for me are even harder to get to. She didn't think I'd be able to get to the chocolate where she had stashed it, but I'm more resourceful than she gives me credit for. In this case, my resourcefulness definitely didn't work in my favor!

I'll update you again when I'm feeling better and back to wagging my handsome little tail!

Update 12/16: I'm back home, and almost back to my spunky self again!

Food and Manners

Great news! Saturday morning my foster mom decided that I'd lost enough weight and she was going to increase my food! I used to get 3/4 cup in the morning and 3/4 cup in the evening. Now I'm getting a whole cup in the morning and 3/4 cup in the evenings. Of course I always want more, but this is definitely an improvement.

Saturday afternoon Molly took Zorro and me to her mom's house to hang out. We had a great time.

Molly's mom thought I was a bit too persistent about trying to steal food from the counter. I might be too short to reach the counter, but I sure can try! Molly's Mom decided this was unacceptable behavior and started squirting me with a spray bottle when I tried to jump up for a closer sniff. I've decided sniffing her mom's cooking isn't quite worth getting squirted.

The thing I can't believe is that Molly actually laughed at all this and told me there might be some hope for my manners yet! As weird as humans can be about things like manners, they probably have my best interests at heart. I am truly grateful that I'm getting a bigger breakfast these days.

Hello World!

Hello everyone! My name is Joker. I've started this blog to help you get to know me a little better, and maybe interest someone in giving me a permenant home.

First off, a little background on me:

I'm a 5 year old beagle up for adoption through Blue Moon Meadows. I'm currently living in a foster home. I'm pretty happy in my foster home, and I get along well with my foster mom and her lab Zorro. I think I'd get along well with her cranky kitty Sabrina, but Sabrina wants nothing to do with me!

I'm crate trained. Crate trained means I'm OK going in a crate when my foster mom has to leave the house, but I'd really prefer she didn't leave me so often. I think I'd be fine if she left me out of the crate on my own, but she prefers I stay crated unless she's only out on short errands.

My foster mom, Molly, says that probably my biggest weakness is my manners. I can be a bit jumpy and pull on the leash a bit. We're working on this, and planning to start classes at the Dog Obedience Training Club of Rochester, NY after the new year.

Outside of my adorable smile, I think the biggest thing I have to offer a family is my incredibly cheerful temperment. If I'm awake my tail is wagging!

That's it for my introductory post. I'll try to keep this updated on a fairly regular basis.
