Performance Dog Potential!

I took Molly to DOTCORNY's obedience trial on Sunday. I wasn't competing, but what an experience! Molly and I visited the AKC representative to ask about getting me listed as a purebred lab so that I could compete in performance events. He looked at me and said that I was a wonderful looking lab and would have no problem getting listed for performance events.

I talked with Jane and several other people there who thought I was a gorgeous dog with great potential! Lots of people commented that they really liked smaller labs (like me!) and that I had a gorgeous coat and was in excellent shape.

Many of you may be wondering what people meant when they said I had a lot of potential. A dog's a dog, right? If a dog is friendly, reasonably well behaved in the house and goes potty outside, what more could one want? Well... you could compete with me. The people I met at the dog show thought I had a lot of great traits that would make me a great dog for agility, flyball or even obedience.

One thing Jane noticed about me is that even though I had probably never been somewhere as chaotic as a dog trial before, I seemed to be calm and took it all in stride. I didn't show any signs of stress or nervousness. I acted as if the whole thing were no big deal and I was happy to be there.

Another thing people commented on was that I am very alert and notice lots of things. I am always ready to go. When you combine this with my confidence and even temperament, one couldn't ask for a better dog, either for agility, flyball, obedience and/or as an active, happy companion.
